Hoe Down, The Recap

Taylor and her fellow 3rd graders and the 4th graders have been learning how to square dance as part of their PE class at school. On Friday night the school held a Hoe Down where the families were invited in to learn the dances with the kids.

Taylor immediately knew that between her father and I she was way better off with her father. Hey she's one smart cookie.

While the instructor was reeling out directions the younger siblings sitting at my feet were watching the test group dance and laughing their little butts off. They were funnier than the dancers. Just wait, their turn is coming.

Bailey soon discovered that she wanted in on the action. She found a few different partners, but she tells me that Byung was her favorite.

Hey, Taylor's group scored the highest in the PE class for square dancing. Maybe she has a future filled with a petticoat and gingham? Oy. At least she had fun.

Hey, we live in the Pacific Northwest. Rain and all that, kind of limits their outdoor activity, they also ride unicycles! Okay, some of the kids ride unicycles. The kids got my coordination skills and haven't mastered it yet.

What? Don't look at me like that.

Thankful

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and has overcome their turkey coma.

I am writing this in mid-December and back dating it to Thanksgivingish. I know that's cheating but I have a great picture to share that I had forgotten about.

Every time that we eat with the parents Pete threatens to lick his plate clean. My mom has a fit and gets mad at him. Since we had Thanksgiving at my house this year I told him that he couldn't leave the table after dessert until he licked his plate.

I think he just might have been in heaven. My mom on the other hand was not pleased with me, especially since I failed to capture the first lick on camera and made him re-lick.

Break time

Taking a small break from PAX at Palominos. Starting off with Scratch margaritas and fresh bread.

Both margaritas are mine.

PAX, here we come

Tim, Ashley and I are currently sitting in PAX and Bumbershoot traffic trying to park in downtown Seattle. Fun. This is Ashley's first foray into the gaming world, should be interesting.

My mom has all of the kids. I can't wait until E gets pissed off and says damnit. Hehehe.

Dude. My husband just parked his clown car in a spot that makes m claustrophobic. Send paper bag. Stat.

It knows me!

Dsc00074

How wrong is that?

I am sure to those of you who have ever met me in person this comes as no surprise. I have to say it didn't shock me at all, it did make me laugh and Tim almost pissed himself laughing at me.

Score!

We had half-heartedly looked for Wii Fit while we were out at Target yesterday but of course they were sold out. My mom ran to Fred Meyer this morning and checked the electronics department while she was there, just in case, ya know cause she is an awesome mom and all that. Needless to say they had it, they got a shipment of 10 this morning and less than an hour later when my mom checked they had 2.

Yay for my mom and her timing skillz!

Am off to try it out. Or rather to laugh at Tim while he tries it out.

Sunny Day Fun

We headed out to a birthday party at the local Family Fun Center this weekend. It was sunny and hot and the perfect day to enjoy some bumper boats outdoors.

The girls had a fun time and I think the birthday boy had a great day.

Taylor and the birthday boy go head to head.

All of the kids were soaked when they emerged but since it hit over 90 it really didn't matter. Tim and I kind of wish we had hopped on with them.

Easter Egg Hunt, Take Two

Since the average age in our immediate neighborhood is around 70*, the neighborhood right above ours takes pity on us and invites us to their annual Easter Egg Hunt.

The kids got to do crafts first, while continually asking if it was time yet to hunt eggs yet. It amazes me that the kids can clear the yards so fast, we sent the big kids one way and the little kids another and then met back at the start. It took less than 10 minutes start to finish to find about over 400 eggs.

We had no tears and no blood, I think it was a success!

*Okay, the average age is probably not that high but everyone seems so damn stuffy.

Roller Derby It Ain't

We headed back to the skating rink for a birthday party this weekend, one of Tay's friends turned 8 on Saturday and we celebrated by busting our asses on hard polished wood and eating sugary sweets. We did have a very good time and we did make some new friends since it was a group of people that we had never met before.

Dsc02984

I guarantee you that less than 5 seconds later she fell. She has the bruises to prove it. In fact she fell so many times that she might have bruises for weeks to come.

Dsc02981

Can I just say that I am less than pleased with this pic but I promised Ashley that I would post one. Can I just clarify a couple of things? That is not a fricking fat roll! It is just the most unattractive sweater ever! Holy hell, who lets me pick my own clothes?? Also, Washington weather+my wavy hair=Curly. Which I find hilarious and scary, I may have had to call and ask a curly haired friend for help.

Skating was fun but I think they need to hand out bubble wrap pants in the girl's size when you walk in the door. Tim might need a pair of those as well, he fell a handful of times too.

Bounce House Fun

Dsc02978

The girls' school had a PTA function tonight combined with a PTA meeting/update ie. it was supposed to be a meeting and turned into an update instead, either way the kids had fun and more parents than typically show up to meetings (7!) were updated by the PTA.

This is a pic of the local bounce house where the function was held, incidentally it was also where the girls bday party was held. For parties it is sectioned off into 3 rooms. What you can't see is that there are more bouncy things to my right and behind me.

You also can't see my kids. I couldn't see them either, once they got there they were off and running and I didn't see them until Tay came running with blood and Bai came running for pizza.

Good times.
