It has been extremely warm for Washington for the past week or so with a heat advisory in effect for the next week. Basically we don't want to be in the house and it's too hot to do anything outside. But the show must go on!
Taylor's eyes have pretty much recovered, kind of. You know how I poked fun and said it looked like she had been on a three week bender? When they didn't clear up and continued to burn after three days a weekend, give me a bit of credit) I took her to the doc and after a very fun Fluorescein eye test we discovered she had a chemical burn. Basically they stained her eyes orange and shined a blue light in them to look for corneal abrasions which made her eyes look 3D and neon green and purple, was awesome and made me wish I had my camera, supportive parent that I am. We have been weeding out sunscreens ever since, no more spray ones at all. We never used those on the face but now we don't use them at all and a few lotions seem to irritate her eyes as well even if we apply it widely around the eyes and wash it off promptly when we come inside. Eh, thank the stars for short summers.
Word to the wise, the Fluorescein orange dye will turn your face orange if you happen to tear up and they dye your eyes by laying a strip of paper on your eyeball.
Just writing that made me tear up.
Soccer. Oy, soccer. Tryouts should be over this week. I hope. I think. Maybe. Practices are Monday and Wednesday, 5 to about 7. There is a tournament this weekend that she might be playing in at Starfire but I haven't worked out all of the details yet, it is Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Taylor will be the first one to say that she was overwhelmed with the things that this team does. Me too... But we just keep practicing and hoping for the best.
Ballet. Yep, Bailey is taking a summer ballet class. After the, um, clusterfuck of the year end performance we did decide to switch it up with her ballet school. We first decided to try a summer class and see how it goes. So far, so good. Classes are Tuesday and Thursday and she loves it. Especially since she is the youngest in the class, she gets to learn what the older girls are learning, harder pirouettes and things I can't spell or pronounce.
That's all I have for now. It's ice cream for dinner time. Hey, it's a food group!
