Get thee butt to the theater early.
Adrian Veidt. Ozymandias. I had a personal issue with the actor chosen to play this character. His acting was fine, I just don't think he was a good fit. Also, how did you pronounce Veidt when you read the book? Veet or Vite, someone in the move said it as Vite and Tim and I both agreed it should have been Veet but that is neither here nor there I guess.
Dr. Manhattan, periwinkle. Except when he was sparkly. Seriously though, he was too lavender. It was distracting. I am glad they left him nekkid, it would have been more distracting to have him clothed. Go figure.
Costumes, expect them to be different than the novel. No skirt on Silk Spectre. Ozymandias' is more Tupperware than flowing Egyptian. I expected Nite Owl's costume to be leather and not what it was. The Comedian and Rorschach are true to novel.
There are several instances in the novel that are left out of the movie. There is no interaction with the newspaper vendor, I did hear talk that when they release the dvd they will sell a version with The Tale of the Black Freighter worked in. No idea how that will work. Dr. Malcolm Long has no interaction with his wife and he only has 2 interactions with Rorschach. You get no real backstory on Rorschach except through images from the rorschach cards and no explanation on his mask. The Halloween attack on Hollis does not occur. Rorschach does not receive a note to meet Moloch at a specified time, however he still states that he walked right into his arrest.
Laurie never smoked. Ever. However, when she and Nite Owl break Rorschach out of jail she fights in flats and then walk out in stillettos. I hate when that happens.
No Black Freighter references of course and none of the excerpts from Hollis Mason's book. I thought maybe we might get a narrative but no.
The movie ending is different than the book. In a couple of different ways but I don't want to spoil it for you.
I am sure there are other differences but that is all I can come up with. It was a good movie, but I preferred the novel ending.
This is not a movie for children. If you have read the novel then you know that, just saying.
Bonus! Got to see the trailers for the new Transformers movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Star Trek!
Dude, they got rid of Sylar's furry caterpillar eyebrows! Tragedy.
