It is almost time for the Second Annual Virtual Cookie Exchange, hosted by Jenn over at Jenn's Journal. The idea is simple, you sign up by leaving a comment on this post then on December 3rd you simply post your recipe on your blog, let Jenn know that you have posted and link to the post that she puts up on the 3rd listing all of the other participants.
Everybody loves cookies and I need some new recipes. So really, you would be doing me a favor if you signed up and posted your own beloved recipes.
You wouldn't be doing my butt any favors but that is another story.
Do you remember Harold? You first met him here. Harold is a very important member of our family, he is responsible for Bailey sleeping through the night. That alone makes him one of my favorite "people". The fact that I don't have to feed him or wipe his butt also makes him rank pretty high on my list.
Well, Harold had an accident tonight. Bailey was near hysterical by the time I got upstairs to her room where she was crying.
Harold lost an ear. I don't trust myself to reattach it and am waiting for Tim to get home before we perform surgery. I am even holding it upside down in the pic, ah!
I am still not exactly sure what caused this ear-y accident but I do know that we have to get it fixed or replace Harold on the down low. Bailey was pissed that I took this picture, that made it even funnier!
Poor Harold.
I had no one to drink coffee with, I had to drink all 8 cups by myself.
No little person rolled their eyes at me. I didn't think I would miss that, but I sort of do. Not enough to make me encourage the girls to do it though.
I had no one to share shoes with and no one to call a ladle. Or a fork. Or a gravy boat (you kind of had to be there).
I had no one to eat fudge on bacon strips with. You really should try it.
No one to freeze my butt off with and complain about it.
Or eat an entire Claim Jumper I D'eclair with.
I miss being called Shelf by a little blond fart monster. He gives good kisses, when you can get them that is.
Boo!
Ashley and Ethan go home today. Boo!
It has taken me a few days to recover from the early hours and miles walked on Black Friday. I am now ready to recap how we spent the day.
The day began at 3:15AM when I jumped in the shower. Cynthia picked Ashley and I up in her ice covered van at 4:05. From there we headed to Toys R' Us and got in line with the couple of hundred other people already freezing. Tara joined us shortly after we got there. We stood in line for about 45 minutes (did I mention my hair was wet and it was 29 degrees out?? Not my brightest moment.) and then finally got inside at 5AM only to discover they were immediately sold out of the one thing I was after.
Then we went to a new Starbuck's, along with about 75 other people. Changed our minds and went to Kohl's instead, along with about 1,000 other people who were already in line. We browsed and then decided to come back later. We were the first in line at Bath and Body Works and scored some good soap deals and stocking stuffers.
We found another Starbuck's and got breakfast and coffee. And peed. In the mens bathroom. Shorter line. Or no line. But I did get a very odd look and an "oh" from the guy waiting when I came out. Oops.
We went on to explore Pier One, Cost Plus, Target, back to Kohl's, Michael's and the mall and there may have been a stop at a Cheesecake Factory where some Chicken Pesto pizza may have been consumed.
We scored some pretty good deals. Cynthia picked up a coat rack at Pier One marked down 75% off of its normal price. I am not really sure what else we bought, but it was a ton of fun and I am almost done shopping. Cynthia has some more great pictures over at her site.
We had an awesome day. We spent the day cooking and laughing. Ashley and Ethan are still here, Brian drove in and Mom and Pete came over. Mom and Pete each made a turkey, one baked and one fried. They were both good but I have to say that the fried one was superb! Crispy skin and juicy inside.
I made the ham. Well, in all honesty Honeybaked and the UPS man were responsible for the ham but I heated it so it would be edible.
Ash and I also made the cornbread stuffing, bacon macaroni and cheese (you soooo need the recipe, yummy!), the carrots and the non-pictured pumpkin cheesecakes and caramel apple pie. It was my first from scratch pie and crust, it came out pretty darn good.
We are very thankful that we could all be together and that we all had so much fun. We are thankful for great friends and a wonderful family.
