Today was the first day of school. Both of the girls were majorly excited. Well, they were excited last night, they felt a tad bit differently at 7AM. Once they were fed and clothed they were back to excited.
We took the girls to the bus stop and let them ride the bus to school. Wanted to make sure Bailey got the full "school" day effect on her first day.
We waited at the bus stop for about 20 minutes as the bus was late.
Eventually the bus arrived and they were off. How exciting!
Then Tim and I jumped our happy butts in the Jeep and followed the bus to school like the goobers that we are. Notice the rain speckled windshield and dreary skies, I love Washington!
Finally made it! The principal meets the kids getting off of the bus and shakes hands with everyone he sees. Awesome first impression for Bailey, she now refers to him as "the man in charge".
Since school had already started for the day we hurried in and walked the kids to their prospective classrooms. Tay was first. I met her teacher and got a hug and a kiss goodbye. Then on to Bailey. We walked her in and dropped off the overflow bag of school supplies. By that time she had handed her backpack off to a helper in the room and joined the other kids. I didn't get a goodbye, a kiss or a wave. I don't even think we got a parting glance.
Hmmph.
Everyone made it home safe and sound. And on the right bus. Tons of new friends were made and it was a great day all around.
While the girls were at school I went out for a day of parental freedom with one of my neighborhood friends. Her youngest started Kindergarten with Bai today and her oldest is in Tays class. We drove into Seattle and ran a quick errand and then headed to one of the numerous malls. We sat and enjoyed coffee and croissants. We window shopped at Cartier and I may have drooled a tad at Tiffany's. We decided to skip lunch and headed to the movie theater instead, where we saw The Nanny Diaries. We got nachos and popcorn and soda and we didn't have to share with anyone. We made it home just in time to stash our purses and then headed to pick up the kidlets.
It was awesome.
